Move starts

The moving guy came by yesterday and took the less than 500 pounds of stuff I'm allowed to take to Honduras. Since they have most of the things I need already there, I shipped some clothes and my desktop computer. I probably didn't need to ship the computer, since I will have my laptop with me, but I'll be there a year and they allow it.

Today the main movers come to take the rest of my stuff away to storage. I think they will arive within the next hour. I don't own any large, heavy, expensive furniture, so hopefully this won't drag into tomorrow. I have some outprocessing to take care of at work and would like to get it done early.

I'm going to take a couple days to get the apartment nice and clean to turn over to the manager on Tuesday, then I drive to Oakland to drop of my car for storage. I've never stored a car before, so this is adding a bit to the stress.

Wednesday morning I get on a plane and eventually stop in Detroit, where I will spend a little more than a week with family. The logistics behind this are a little stressful as well -- I'm having trouble finding a ride to the airport. I'll be staying on base, my car will already be in storage, and the base is more than an hour away from the airport. I have to leave at 3:30 a.m., and no shutles run that early. A cab will cost $120. I tried a car service who advertised $85 on their Web site, but they quoted me $195 because of the early pickup. I still have a few more days to work this out, but it looks like I may be taking a cab.
